Role Overview
Our client is a market leader in the heavy machinery and services industry committed to taking on mining's toughest challenges. We are recruiting for a mechanically-minded Field Service Technician (Automotive Electrical) for a 12-Month contract. Reporting to the Technical Services lead, you will be the face of the client on-site, responsible for facilitating the successful installation, maintenance, and servicing of Collision Avoidance System (CAS) technology and smart AI camera solutions on light and heavy mining vehicles.
This role involves mostly ad-hoc work at client sites, working on both full site installations and smaller equipment upgrades. You will act as the site representative, often working independently with sub-contracting teams.
Key Responsibilities
Installation & Commissioning:
- System Rollout: Conduct onsite installation and commissioning of CAS systems and smart AI cameras.
- Scoping: Conduct scoping activities prior to installation for customer review and approval.
- Maintenance: Perform ongoing site maintenance work, on-demand customer service, and troubleshooting to ensure high availability of equipment.
Site Management & Compliance:
- Project Oversight: Manage site activities for project installations, including overseeing sub-contractor resources.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct installation quality audits and maintain accurate and timely project/service delivery records.
- Safety & Documentation: Drive EHS compliance, prepare site-specific documentation, and train personnel on the installation and operation of CAS systems.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of Industry/Mining experience is preferred. Mining Industry Site Experience is mandatory, and Heavy Vehicle Mining Auto Electrical experience is highly desirable.
- Must hold an Auto Electrical or Electrical Trade qualification. A Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology is highly preferred.
- Industry Background: Candidates coming from automotive, rail, or electrical backgrounds are encouraged.
- Technical Skills: Intermediate ability with Microsoft Office is mandatory, and basic knowledge of Networking systems (LAN/WAN) is desirable.
- Work Style: Ability to work unsupervised, manage changing work priorities, and exhibit a strong 'can-do' attitude.
Salary, Conditions & Location
- $70/hr + Super (Flat rate, no OT rates apply).
- Hours: Guaranteed 38-50 hours per week (often 10+ hour days). Driving hours are added to total hours worked.
- Location: Based out of Kewdale, WA, with ad-hoc travel to client sites. Must be willing to travel on short notice domestically and internationally.
- Roster: Open to a blended roster (e.g., 7 on 7 off, 8 on 6 off, 5 on 2 off) dependent on project needs.
- Perks: The client will provide a uniform and a work UTE when traveling.
